What Strava is looking for in applicants

About This Role

Strava is the leading social platform for athletes and the largest sports community in the world, with US offices located in San Francisco and Denver and over 93 million athletes in 195 countries. If you sweat you’re an athlete, and Strava’s mobile apps and website connect millions of active people every day.

The Community product team within Strava’s Athlete Experience group aims to provide more ways for athletes to celebrate and memorialize their activity and bring more life and authenticity into Strava. We are looking for a Product Manager to join the Community team to own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of initiatives that improve Strava’s social experience, drive meaningful engagement on our platform, and enable the magic of Strava’s community through social connection.

This is a full-time position reporting to the product lead of the Athlete Experience Community team. Even if you don’t feel you meet all of the qualifications, we still encourage you to apply and would love to hear from you.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Set product vision and develop a roadmap. Identify the most valuable opportunities to pursue that serve our athletes and offer them joy, connection, and motivation.  Work with other discovery leads (e.g. design, research, analytics, and others), the Community product lead, other PMs, and leadership to define an inspiring vision.

  • Define and execute on product. Through high-quality research, analysis, and experimentation, you’ll manage execution and evolve and inform the direction of product development to deliver both athlete and business value.

  • Create alignment by collaborating with cross-functional teams. Partner with engineering, design, data analysts, research, product marketing, and other PMs to drive positive athlete outcomes.

  • Ship often. Ship minimum-lovable products that allow us to test our hypotheses while delivering a quality athlete experience.

  • Gain deeper insights about our athletes. Use product analytics to understand how our customers use our product and help guide decisions on future improvements and optimizations.

You will be successful here by:

  • Demonstrating empathy for our athlete community.

  • Identifying and developing opportunities to drive engagement, backing up assumptions and direction with analytical and quantitative methods, and driving cross-functional team alignment, both within and outside your immediate team.

  • Embracing an inclusive, collaborative environment that elevates a diverse set of voices and experiences.

  • Building relationships with care, self-awareness, and listening skills to create a strong foundation of trust, and being willing to shift your stance on something when you uncover new information.

  • Thinking strategically and communicating effectively when presenting to large audiences, helping colleagues understand prioritization, or managing multiple stakeholders across teams.

We’re excited about you because:

  • 4+ years experience creating customer-facing products as a product manager or equivalent role.

  • You have experience with product discovery, UI/UX design, feature planning, prioritization, and delivery.

  • You have experience in user testing, A/B testing, and data analysis.

  • You have experience contributing to engineering discussions about technology decisions and strategies related to a product.

  • You are a kind, positive influencer with a sense of humor.

  • You are eager to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
