What Mongodb is looking for in applicants

The database market is massive (IDC estimates it to be $121B+ by 2025!) and MongoDB is at the head of its disruption. At MongoDB we are transforming industries and empowering developers to build amazing apps that people use every day. We are the leading modern data platform and the first database provider to IPO in over 20 years. Join our team and be at the forefront of innovation and creativity.

MongoDB is the leading modern, general purpose database platform, designed to unleash the power of software and data for developers and the applications they build. Headquartered in New York, MongoDB has more than 33,000 customers in over 100 countries. The MongoDB database platform has been downloaded over 240 million times and there have been more than 1.5 million registrations for MongoDB University courses.

We’re currently disrupting a $100+ billion market with our innovative and intuitive application data platform. MongoDB Atlas gives development teams the versatility they need to build sophisticated and resilient applications that can adapt to changing customer demands and market trends. However, our software is not used in a silo - we exist in a rich ecosystem of technology that developers, DBAs, DevOps, and others use to accomplish their jobs. MongoDB is very invested in our ever-growing partnership ecosystem, and we recognize that our partner relationships are a core part of our success.

About The Role

To ensure partnerships remain a first-class priority for the business, we are looking for a dedicated Product Marketer to define and own our strategy with cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud) and technology vendors like HashiCorp, Vercel, and Confluent. You’ll be focused on growing the acquisition and expansion of MongoDB Atlas and be measured on the success of our partner-led and co-marketing channels towards these objectives and goals.

As a PMM, you’ll be responsible for driving the co-marketing strategy, messaging, and positioning for how we complement other products and platforms used by developers and engineering teams to build and run world-class applications. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Management, Partner Marketing, and Partner Sales, as well as interact with almost every team across the company to execute on your plans, evaluate the results, and share your learnings.

This role will be based remotely in North America.

Your responsibilities:

  • Drive the partner-led growth strategy for MongoDB Atlas in close collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Sales Enablement, and Developer Relations, as well as our partner contacts at AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, HashiCorp, Vercel, Confluent, and other strategic partners. The focus will be on three areas (in priority order):
    • Acquisition: leverage partner networks and marketplace/getting started integrations (e.g., MongoDB Atlas on AWS - Quick Start) to drive increased awareness and registrations
    • Expansion: promote partner integrations and joint solutions (e.g., HashiCorp Terraform MongoDB Atlas Provider) to drive increased share of wallet and consumption, from both existing applications and new opportunities within accounts
    • Retention: promote partner integrations and joint solutions (e.g., Bring-Your-Own Cloud Key Management Service for additional encryption at rest) to improve operational comfort and retention, particularly for enterprise customers
  • Become an expert on the customer journey and experience through research and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement. You’ll be directly responsible for the more acquisition-focused integrations and collaborate with other Product Managers and Product Marketing Managers on more technical integrations (e.g., security or monitoring related)
  • Lead ideation and experimentation of different growth strategies to increase awareness and adoption of MongoDB Atlas through partner-led, owned, and paid channels and share your learnings with the wider org. You’ll be a part of Growth ‘squads’ focused on specific KPIs for MongoDB Atlas (e.g., Acquisition and Monetization) and work with them to prioritize ideas and define key inputs such as success metrics, targeting, content strategy, and channel mix
  • Communicate the value of our products and highlight the shared benefits of using our technology with other best-in-class tools and services in a clear, succinct, and relevant way to Marketing, Sales, and customers

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have 3+ years of partner marketing, field marketing, growth marketing, product marketing, or strategic consulting experience
  • Have experience with partner co-marketing, particularly to leverage a larger partner’s audience to drive awareness of a product or service
  • Have an interest in product-led growth and have taken courses like the Reforge Growth Series
  • Have strong product instincts and technical curiosity that translate to clear packaging, positioning, and messaging
  • Have exceptional written, communication, and speaking skills
  • Thrive in cross-functional environments and can effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and teams
  • Are incredibly organized and efficient—you take on complex projects and own them from start to finish
  • Have an impact-oriented and data-informed mindset and are driven to set measurable goals for every project you take on
  • Approach all projects with a customer-first mentality
